In my role as a professional mental health and wellbeing practitioner, and survivor, I understand that the world can be a stressful, challenging, and emotionally draining place. We are constantly bombarded by negative influences that are vying for our attention while somehow creating a real sense of isolation - and it can feel as though everyone around you is talking but no one is listening.
Through my own lived experiences of trauma, I fully empathise with the everyday struggles faced by people, like yourself, who are coping with mental health challenges. These may be caused by anxiety, fear or guilt, work and home stress, lack of self worth or personal identity, or a very real sense of loss or feelings of depression. I know you are hurting.
Maybe it's time to be heard or to make the change you know you want or need in your life...and the fact that you're here gives me an opportunity to warmly welcome you to this listening and helping space of psychological change.
I embrace and appreciate the diverseness of my clients, and am privileged to be a part of their personal journeys. The building of trust and empathic understanding has been key to our working relationship - and facilitates healing, exploration, and growth. I have also worked with young people aged 12 and above, and my approach connects well with them as individuals who are seeking out their own unique voice.
Plus...as a registered BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) member, you can be assured that I am committed to their principles of good practice.
My practice is based on the principles of autonomy, spirituality and authenticity. I am also a creative and intuitive counsellor and aim to help you to make a positive developmental change in your life. I will do so by walking alongside you within a non-judgemental, safe, collaborative, respectful, and sometimes challenging, therapeutic relationship. And you set the pace.
I facilitate positive therapeutic change by working with an Integrative Model - Person Centred integrated with Psychodynamic: This means that I take an holistic approach, value that we all have unique differences and beliefs, and empower people to make informed choices that feel right for them.
Using evidence-based interventions, we’ll work in the here and now with whatever issues or traumas you bring into the room, which will enable you to talk about aspects of your life that you may not have previously discussed or revealed to others.
We can also work with past experiences and life events - this is more directive and works by bringing the unconscious into the conscious; facilitating opportunities for you to explore, realise, and express your innermost thoughts and unmet needs.
I’m also adaptive to exploring with you creative ways in which to reveal your underlying thoughts and feelings e.g. using artwork or sand tray therapy, drawings and images, journaling, metaphor, spiritual belief etc.
If you feel I might be the right fit for you, please contact me to book a complimentary 30-minute telephone consultation, prior to booking your main sessions.
